3. Surfactant behavior: CTAB exhibits excellent surfactant properties, including surface tension reduction, wetting ability, and emulsification. It can stabilize emulsions and form stable foams.

 

4. Charge properties: CTAB is a cationic surfactant, meaning it carries a positive charge. This enables it to interact with negatively charged particles, such as proteins, DNA, and cell membranes.

 

5. Biological applications: Due to its positive charge, CTAB is commonly used in molecular biology for DNA extraction and purification. It can bind and precipitate DNA, separating it from other cellular components.
